MBBR media also named mbbr bio media, mbbr carrier. What has been known as the Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) is a wastewater treatment process. Installed in 50 countries worldwide, it sums up to over 700 wastewater treatment systems available for either municipal or industrial purposes.

MBBR Bio Filter Media is specially used in the Integrated Fixed-film Activated Sludge (IFAS) and moving bed bio film reaction (MBBR) system for water treatment.
Because the MBBR media is with the similar density as that of water, it could suspending in water and move freely in the reactor so as to mix with the water. With the flow and aeration of water in the reactor, it could keep in a fluidized state. It works as the moving carrier of the microorganism activity in the MBBR system.
While the waste water goes through the suspending filter media in MBBR reactor, the biological membrane (bio film) forms on the surface of the media gradually. When the microbial adhesion on the moving carrier forms biofilm on the carrier, it could purify the water.

1. Designed geometric configuration according to fluid mechanics and strengthened surface adhesion ability
The specially designed geometric configuration has huge effective specific surface area. The filler media is made of high quality 100% pure HDPE polymer material and has strong impact resistance. Advanced surface treatment technology is more suitable to the growth of microbial adhesion, and provides a strong guarantee for the filtration and circulation of fish pond water.
2. The filler has a large specific surface area and more attached biomass
Its large specific surface area provides support for the attachment and growth of a large number of microorganisms, which is suitable to the growth of various microorganisms, nitrifying bacteria, EM bacteria, filamentous bacteria and other beneficial bacteria, and provides a solid foundation for the biological nitrogen and phosphorus removal of circulating water.
3. No supportnecessary, easy fluidization and energy saving
Appropriate specific gravity makes the packing media be in suspension flow state, which minimizes the energy consumption increases the impact/cutting on the bubble.
4. Very simple maintenance
General filter materials need regular cleaning and renovation maintenance. But this new type of biological filler do not need cleaning and renovation after participating in the cycle generally. It can be used repeatedly and the service life is longer than 10 years.

MBBR process has the advantages of both traditional fluidized bed and biological contact oxidation, which is a new and efficient waste water treatment method and could be used in a wide range of water treatment system.
It is suitable to treat various kinds of waste water including but not limited to: the urban sewage, paper making waste water, food industry waste water, slaughtering waste water, oil refining waste water and industrial waste water.
There is no need to set the packing support in the aeration tank, which makes the maintenance easy and lower investment.
Following is suggested procedure for filling the MBBR filter media into the aeration tank.
While filling the MBBR filter media, the workers must observe whether there is accumulation in the aeration tank. Once accumulation occurs, the filling should be stopped. Normally the filling have to be restarted next day when no accumulation exists any more.
While filling the MBBR filter media, intermittent aeration should be used. The aeration could be continued at night with reduced amount of aeration.
After 24 hours of operation, continuously feed water for 2-3 hours and then continue the above aeration. After 48 hours of operation, observe the film formation on the surface of the filter media. Increase the water inflow and extend the water inflow time. Check the dissolved oxygen condition in the tank, it is best to keep the oxygen content at about 1.5-2.0mg/L.
After 72 hours of operation, increase the water inflow gradually to its designed condition.
